sea_changed: Man in a 1700s British Army uniform firing a musket (misc; redcoat)

Oh, but the ending is so wonderful; it's worth it just for the final image, promise. (Though ugh, Eliza--I care for her so deeply and I just want her to be happy in a way I don't think she ever will be.) I'm so pleased you read it and liked it!

I have such mixed feelings about John and Jamie, because on the one hand I absolutely wish that it was never a storyline that happened (and just kept happening), and John deserves so much better. On the other hand, I'm fascinated just enough by their relationship--there are so many almosts and might-have-beens with them, that once Gabaldon did make the choices she did, there's so much to work with when it comes to slight aus/missing scenes/etc. (And, fwiw, if you ever decide to post the 18k John and Jamie epic I will be first in line to read it.)

ETA: Just saw your edit, and god, I know. It's such a strange feeling to finish a 600-odd page book and immediately want more, but that's absolutely what it was for me. I could easily read another 600 pages of Donoghue writing about Anne.
